Put your coins here?

How many of you put your coins here? I would like to share a lesson on putting your coins here. Once, when I was trying to exchange the smoke lighter for a handphone charger unit, one of the tiny coins dropped into the socket.

It shorted the socket! The fuse burnt for that. Replaced the fuse and it works normally again. Now, should you put your coins here again?

The Key Battery

This error message will appear on the instrument cluster's screen immediately on start. It will appear for about 5 seconds only. However the error message can be seen at the Vehicle Status mode in your center console / head unit's screen.

Changed the battery at FA Wagen Glenmarie, Shah Alam for RM17.xx

The Windscreen Story

Last week, unfortunately, the front windscreen cracked. It was due to a chip stone that hit the windscreen while I was cruising on a highway.

Replaced it at FA Wagen Glenmarie, good job done! It just take one and a half day for the whole windscreen replacement job to be done.

Squealing Brake & Tow Truck

Bismillahirrahmnirrahim. First of all, I would like to congratulate Volkswagen Group Malaysia, especially the road assist team for a very good service rendered to me yesterday. Rest assured, the 5-year mobility guarantee is a guarantee, purely no extra charge whatsoever.

So what happened was; last Wednesday night when I was driving the car around the neighbourhood, the front left brake squeals loudly. It sounds as if something is hardly applying force to the disc. My worst case assumption was the possibility of jammed calliper. The simplest cause maybe as simple as an unlucky chip stone stucked in any of the brake assembly. I dare not to continue driving, thus drive it back home slowly.

It was around 11.30pm when I dialled the VW Road Assist emergency number (1800-88-2389, keep this number in your mobile!). They offered me to tow the car straight away that night to the nearest service center which is FA Wagen in Glenmarie. I prefer not to have the car sleep there, so I requested them to come the next morning.

The next day, a tow truck arrived about 8.30am, towed the car, arrived 9.30am at FA Wagen and by 10.30am all solved. It was because of chip stone stuck somewhere in the brake assembly. Lucky that I didn't continue to drive that both pads and disc are not damaged. All-in-all, good service at no costs at all, it's all FREE! Thanks again to the friendly tow truck driver, En Kamal and FA Wagen team!

The Seven Ringgit Plastic Updated!

Today I collected the seven ringgit plastic, original from FA Wagen Shah Alam.

Can you see that the wheel arc cover to access front fog lamp has disappeared! Maybe it was detached due to high pressure water jet while getting car wash.

Most importantly, when I asked for the replacement part from FA Wagen Shah Alam, they said they have to order from Germany, it will take two weeks, and it costs 7 Ringgit! Quick and cheap fix!

Check Oil Level! Error Message

This is my first encounter of the Check oil level! message, popped out about a year ago, few weeks owning it. I was initially puzzled with full hope that nothing serious shall happened.

I did called one of the local service centre, stating that I do have the error message, what should I do? Too bad, the answer is "please make an appointment and come next week, we are all fully booked at the moment". Then, Mr. Google helped me. Understood that it was because of low level of engine oil.

This is how much engine oil, which for me looks okay but still trigger the error message. So as recommended by other users, I bought a 1 litre engine oil, topup only about 1/4 liter, solved!

The question is, how much do I have to top-up, or how frequent? For my first 15,000km I have to top-up 1 litre. And for the next 15,000km (until 30,000km) service interval, I have to top-up about 1/2 litre. Yes, its getting lesser. I do believe that the engine oil they put in from factory may just be "just enough" and so after the first engine oil we do get the "correct" engine oil level.

Followings are some of the pictures on the second occurrence;

Done!
